City of bones serie. The Mortal Instruments Book Series

After her mother is kidnapped, Clary must team up with three Shadowhunters: Jace, Alec and Isabelle and her best friend Simon on a quest to find her mother and recover her past. Jace goes to a bar where he sees a slain child werewolf and does not agree to help the pack, whereupon the pack attacks him and Luke comes out of nowhere to save him. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. Clary cleverly retrieves the cup, but then an evil demon, Abbadon, rushes through the Portal, possesses Madame Dorothea, and tries to kill Clary and Co. Besides that, City of Bones is a fun fantasy-romance read that I enjoyed and that most lovers of urban fantasy probably will too. Clary manages to convince Jace that even though Valentine is his father, he's still a murderous, lying buttface. To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. Aided by Simon, they escape and return to the Institute where Hodge hands over the Cup and an unconscious Jace to Valentine. Simon mentions seeing thin, white scars on Jocelyn's back and shoulders, but Clary dismisses this. So Jace and Clary set off to rescue the poor sucker.
