Founded in 1915, the Grosvenor Neighborhood House Y is located at 176 West 105th Street. For nearly a century, this facility has served the community with a rich variety of youth and family programs, as well as services aimed at assisting those in need. In 2003, Grosvenor merged with the West Side YMCA, providing the community with expanded access to a broader range of youth development, healthy living and community programs and services. The Grosvenor Neighborhood House Y also offers English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs.
Today, the Grosvenor Neighborhood House Y provides members with year-round educational, career-readiness, cultural, recreational, and counseling services. The organization serves more than 1,000 children, family members, and community residents from diverse backgrounds, including recent immigrants from Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
In February 2012, George Oliphant of NBC's hit television show "George to the Rescue" teamed up with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and surprised the kids at the the Grosvenor Neighborhood House Y. With the guidance of general contractor and TV personality, Stephen Fanuka, George and his team provided the facility with a fully renovated kitchen to support healthy cooking classes for kids and adults in the community.
